London Stags RFC – End of Year Celebration & Awards Night 2025

George Green3 Sep - 18:00

Celebrating our Stags!

On Thursday 28 August, the London Stags RFC came together to celebrate the close of an incredible 2024–25 season with our End of Year Celebration and Awards Night. The event was more than just an evening of food, laughter, and dancing; it was a chance to reflect on everything the club has achieved, both on and off the pitch.

A Season of Growth and Resilience

This season has been one of determination, progress, and community. Our summer touch rugby programme continues to be the heartbeat of skill development and team growth, thanks in large part to Dale, whose leadership of the touch offering has helped build consistency and excitement throughout the season.

On the union side, the Stags’ journey has been marked by grit and determination. Early defeats tested us, but we grew stronger with each game. As Union Captain Garin reminded us, the away match against Brighton at the start of the season was tough, but by the return fixture, Brighton arrived confident, only to be beaten on our home turf. That resilience carried us through the season, culminating in a fantastic showing in Oslo, where the Stags showcased great rugby and pride!

None of this would have been possible without the guidance and support of our coaches and captains. A huge thank you goes to our Head Coach Faye for leading our union side, with support from Jason, and our Touch Coaches, Crystal and Ben, whose energy and dedication have taken our touch programme to new heights. I also want to thank our captains: Olli, Garin and Martin for their huge efforts throughout the year.

Celebrating Our Members

The Awards Night itself was a joyful celebration of all our members. It was a huge honour to celebrate members. Hosting alongside our Club Captain and the fabulous energy of drag performers Ember and Queenie, and fuelled by generous support from our partners at Sly Dog Rum, the evening was filled with recognition, laughter, and the classic Stags spirit.

A Thank You to Our Volunteers & Committee

Behind every training session, fixture, and social event are the dedicated volunteers and committee members who keep the club running. From organising matches and socials to managing finances and communications, your hard work makes the Stags possible. To everyone who has given their time, energy, and passion this year - thank you.

More Than Just Rugby

While the trophies and commendations recognise outstanding performances, what truly shone through the night was the sense of belonging and community. London Stags RFC has always been more than a rugby club; we are a space where the LGBTQ+ community and allies can come together, celebrate diversity, and find connection through sport.

Our Awards Night was a reminder of the values we share: inclusion, respect, and joy both on and off the pitch.

Here’s to another year of growth, celebration, and unforgettable memories.

Go Stags!
