To being with...
I’m incredibly proud and honoured to step into the role of Chairperson for the London Stags RFC 2025-26 season. This club is built on the foundations of inclusion, belonging, friendships and development in rugby. Our goal as your new Executive Committee is to continue building on that legacy, by investing in our coaching team, fostering strong club culture, listening to member feedback and improving the Stags experience. I am so excited to work with other Stags on the Executive Committee, officers, our coaching team and captains, to progress the club further.
As we participate in both Trans Pride and UK Black Pride in the coming weeks, I want to reaffirm our club’s commitment to being an actively inclusive club. Pride isn’t just a season for us – it’s a value we live by year-round. It's times like now in particular, that we should come together, support one-another and speak-up. With Trans Pride taking place on Saturday 26 July, I hope to see many Stags join and march with us at this important event!
On the pitch
We're in the middle of a strong Touch season, and the team is thriving – with special thanks to our new Touch Coaching team Crystal and Ben, and with leadership from Martin and Dale. Huge thanks to Alex, who is leading the organisation of several exciting tournaments, including the Feelers Touch Tournament, the Boudicca Cup with Iceni RFC and the West London Warriors Touch Tournament.
Following our Union Team’s strong performance at Union Cup in Oslo (and a well-deserved rest period), we are now looking ahead to our pre-season Union training which kicks off on Saturday 2 August. With leadership from Head Coach Faye, our Union coaches and captains are ready to lead us into the new season with a strong programme of training to prepare us all! Clear your calendars, Pre-Season is coming girles, and it runs through every Saturday of August. Whether you're a seasoned player or totally new to the game, this is the perfect time to get involved. We of course will continue to our Wednesday evening training at Clapham Common, so we encourage everyone – Touch and Union – to attend. There will be a greater focus on general fitness in the coming Wednesday evening sessions. Our pre-season training leads us nicely to our Pride 7s tournament, inclusive of Touch this year, taking place on Saturday 30 August.
Some further key dates for you…
Stags Awards Night – Thursday 28 August at the Eagle in Vauxhall
For the first time, we’re hosting a dedicated evening to reflect on the past season and celebrate the contributions of our players, coaches, members, and volunteers. Join us for Stags Awards Night on Thursday 28 August at The Eagle in Vauxhall. More details to come, but the committee is already working hard to make this a standout event for our community.
New & Returning Members’ Day – Saturday 6 September
We’ll also be hosting our New and Returning Members’ Day on Saturday 6 September, where we’ll welcome new faces and reconnect with returning players. These events always see strong turnout, so come along, reconnect with friends and welcome some new faces into the Stags community.
And finally, thank you!
Thank you to every single one of you who contributes to the spirit and success of our club: players, coaches, volunteers, allies, and supporters. This next chapter is shaping up to be an exciting one, and I can’t wait to take it on with you all.
